New in 2027
There are important changes for 2027. Here’s an overview of what you can expect.
- Medical and dental premiums are increasing, while vision premiums will be the same as they are today. You can review your costs during the enrollment period.
- For all three Credence Blue Cross and Blue Shield medical plans:
- Annual deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums (individual and family) are increasing. As a reminder, deductibles do not apply to preventive care services, doctor’s office visits, urgent care visits and prescription drugs.
- Emergency room copays are increasing. In non-emergency situations, it is best to use an in-network urgent care center, retail walk-in clinic or your own primary care physician to save on costs.
- Effective January 1, 2027, you are required to use Lantern for bariatric procedures. If you already have surgery scheduled in 2027, call Lantern at 1-855-515-1596. They will confirm if your surgeon is in Lantern’s network and, if not, match you with one of Lantern’s trusted experts.
- For the Credence Blue Cross and Blue Shield Value plan: Copays for generic drugs and copay maximums for preferred and non-preferred brand drugs (retail and mail service) are increasing. To save money on prescriptions, talk with your provider or pharmacist to find out if a generic or over-the-counter equivalent is available and appropriate for your situation.
- For the Credence Blue Cross and Blue Shield Premium plan: Primary care and specialist doctor’s office visit copays are increasing. To save money, consider Doctor On Demand® and connect with a board-certified physician from your smartphone, tablet or computer anytime, anywhere. Get treatment for many common health conditions as well as behavioral health concerns for a $20 copay/visit.
- The Health Care Flexible Spending Account limit is increasing. For 2027, you can contribute up to $3,400 before-tax dollars (or such greater amount as approved by the Internal Revenue Service [IRS] for 2027) to pay for eligible out-of-pocket health care (medical, prescription drug, dental and vision) expenses.
Tobacco-free? That’s worth $1,092.
If you are tobacco-free,* you’ll receive a $21 weekly ($1,092 annual) credit toward your medical plan premiums. Don’t miss out.
You must re-attest your tobacco-free status each year during Annual Enrollment to receive the credit.
Smoking Cessation Program
Employees who choose the path to a tobacco-free lifestyle have the option to engage in a no-cost smoking cessation program through WebMD (Swift’s wellness vendor) by completing four, 30- to 45-minute coaching sessions within the current calendar year to receive the full $21 weekly credit.
*Note: Use of e-cigarettes/vaping is considered tobacco use.
